Cape Cottages | Ollies View | Ottway Ranges
in Skenes Creek North, via the amazing Great Ocean Road, less than two
and a half hours from Melbourne.
We made ourselves at home at Ollie's View, set on 8 acres of magnificent land
with uninterrupted views of the Southern Ocean.
Featuring scandanvian interiors & a fully equipped kitchen, Ollies View comprises
of open plan living and dining. Being the Wild and Wooly Winter Ottways,
the woodheater was deliciously warming and homey, or we could have used the
split system heating system.
A basket of cosy blankies to choose from and cuddle in, an array of cheeses
and a warming glass of wine for the adults and we set in to enjoy the view inside & out.
With 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, as well as a full laundry, you could stay here
happily for weeks and pretend you were at home.
Just a nicer home than your own. Probably.
We certainly did feel very fancy, and there was no better setting than to discuss
our own home renovation going on back in Melbourne ..
"Hey, look at this, I like what they've done here, why didnt we think of this?"....
Each bedroom has its own split system heating and cooling - the Master has
a King Size Bed and Ensuite, and the other two bedrooms have Queen Size Bed
and two King Single beds

On the verandah there's a BBQ, deck chairs and outdoor setting, whch would be
amazing in the warmer months. The verandah also has a dog run to keep your pets in
( Cape Cottages is pet friendly! )
There is so much to do in this beautiful part of the world - we only had two days
but we took our host's suggestions on board and delved into the rainforest scenery,
set amongst tall trees, ancient plant life and lush ferns. We didnt get to do the
Otway Fly Tree Top Walk ( this time! ), but we did explore waterfalls, Lake Elizabeth,
the Redwood Forest, and visted Cape Otway Lighthouse, which was fantastic.
We also went koala spotting and saw at least 6 up in trees! We dined in cosy cafes
and collected local treats and preserves and honeys and wines to bring home with us,
and just had a most beautiful time.
Meandering back to Melbourne, we stopped in to show the boys Bells Beach
and lunched at the Lorne Pub as we followed the Great Ocean Road with it's
never-ending spectacular views ( try to spot a whale breaching! )
Thanks so much Sally & Cape Cottages. It was a pleasure to combine a working assignment
with time with family these Winter school holidays.
I hope you enjoy your images.
