My Baby takes the Morning Train :: Melbourne/Paris Travel Photographer
Arts et Métiers is a station of the Paris Métro.
It takes its name from the Musée des Arts et Métiers, which is served by the station.
We'd seen this station a few times on the Metro, coming through, going here, going there.
I said "we need to get off here"
Apparently, before 1994, this was just another station, nothing special.
To mark the bicentenary of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in 1994, the station was redesigned by Belgian comics artist François Schuiten in a steam punk style reminiscent of the science fiction works of Jules Verne.
It is supposed to resemble the inside of a submarine*
( * i've been inside a working sub, let me tell you, those Navy blokes wish they were so lucky ;)
It's kinda a little bit awesome, don't you think?
Ok, maybe a lot.

Wow! Yes.. a LOT! Can't wait for more of your Parisienne photographs :) xox
Very.
I would have loved to have spent more time here .. with a tripod preferably <3
oh my goodness...AWESOME YES!! (great shots too :)
Looking again, is the station covered in copper plating? I remember all the Metro stations we have visited in Paris as always being dirty, this one does look awesome and clean and shiny and new!
Sorry, yes Melody .. all copper, and not a carved graffiti to be seen - nor security to ensure people behave!
We found all the stations to be quite clean.. ( for an older European nation ).. but this one really took the cake!
Holy amazement!! Incredible!
That is very cool! Great shots.
