Wrapped Around Her Finger :: Melbourne Child Photographer

I photographed this little cutie's big brother at the same age a couple of years ago and so when #2 arrived on the scene,
Mum contacted me to come pay another visit.

It was lovely to visit their new home and see images i'd taken up on the wall :)

And finally home for a little rest.

Thanks for seeing me again little family!
If you want to see this little girls' big brother, here he is in 2011:
Baby R

( You'll have to excuse if the images look completely washed out on your screen from that session as they do on mine! ..
it was my monitor at the time, however, all images always print perfectly
:) )

If you're looking to book for 2013, you're almost too late!
I have a few session spots open this year, but not many - so quick, quick, chop, chop - call me now!
I won't bite, but I might snap ( and tell terrible jokes :/ )

Sugar & Spice :: Melbourne Family Photographer

mh-hbfotografic-blog1

Some gorgeous images of a beautiful little girl I had the pleasure of photographing recently...

mh-hbfotografic-blog2
.. and her parents too! We started with some shots at home after nap-time, then a walk to the local park ( which was glorious, even though we timed it perfectly to co-incide with a big charity funrun .. I have a habit of encountering obstacles such as this! )

mh-hbfotografic-blog3

And then home again for big doggy kisses. I love the way she just lit up when she saw the family pup .. true friends for life.

Finally, a little display sample ( below ) I put together for the family.
I always work with families on trying to decide which images to choose and how to display them. This would be an example of one of my favourite displays, it's a little bit different and a bit more visually interesting than a traditionally framed piece ( although they are lovely too, and I always offer a good range of ideas )

Hello Baby!

hbfotografic-hellobabyblog

This stunning little girl with her big beautiful pools for eyes was a recent visitor to my studio .. isn't she gorgeous ?

Know you what it is to be a child?

..It is to have a spirit yet streaming from the waters of baptism; it is to believe in love, to believe in loveliness, to believe in belief; it is to be so little that the elves can reach to whisper in your ear; it is to turn pumpkins into coaches, and mice into horses, lowness into loftiness and nothing into everything..

( Francis Thompson )

Happy Upcoming Christening, Little Princess, I wish you the best of days!

Sweet Baby C .. { Melbourne Baby Photographer }

Goodness I love this age!

Just on 6 months old and what a cutie!

junebaby2

Baby C's mummy had images taken of her little boy at the same age and wanted the same for her little girl.

Such a smoochable, squishable age ... and this was the first time baby C had sat up!
Mum was amazed and thrilled .. but look at her cheeky face .. I think she'd been practising in secret ! ;)

Fun at One | Melbourne Child and Baby Photographer

How hard would it be to look at this little cutie's face all day?

gorgeousboy

Not hard at all ?
I didn't think so.

Little R had just turned one when I visited for a little play at his local park.

I brought along the little red aeroplane by request and oh boy, was he happy. Ever the champ though, he didn't kick up a fuss at all when it was time to go home.

Such a gorgeous age to photograph, I can't ever imagine this little man ever being unhappy - that infectious grin had me smiling all the way home!

Gorgeous Baby Boy | Melbourne Newborn Photographer

I loved meeting Baby C .. he reminded me so much of my own babies - an old soul.
Quiet, unfussed, but knowing what he likes, what he wants, what he doesn't ( scroll down to the last photos - what a crack up, we all had a good laugh at his expense, poor bebe ;)

And as predicted, his parents just roll with it, roll with him. So relaxed, I love that. I knew they would be breezy when I did their maternity photos.

Lucky baby. Lucky parents.
Everybody happy :)

From Brunswick to Sydney | Melbourne Family Photographer

Hello, hello, a bit behind on the blogging!

Before Christmas, I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely family in full, having only met half of them before ( I met mum Hannah and her firstborn when they were one of my original baby clients!! )

The Gherkin's pics are still among some of my favourites .. what a gorgeous face!:

Baby Love: Melbourne Baby and Family Photographer

kja-hbfotograficbaby

A recent session with a gorgeous new family.

Baby A arrived into this world a little bigger than expected, a healthy 10pounder and all of him 100% adorable.
His parents had to go out and buy some Double-0 clothing for him to go home from hospital in - all the items they'd brought with them were too small!

( Which makes me wonder what they dressed his 14-pound Granddad in all those years ago!! )

Thanks for coming to visit K&J, it was a pleasure to photograph you all!

Reveal! :: Melbourne Studio Photographer ::

ta-dah!

studioblog

My latest studio sample arrived last week - an awesome 60x40" colour canvas to go in the freshly painted studio ( compliments of my super-handy-hubby )

To celebrate this unveiling, i'd like to offer a special discount on studio shoots for the months of September and October - keep reading to find out more!:

Studio Photography is best suited to maternity, newborn and baby photos. The room is climate controlled ( toasty in Winter, cool in Summer ) and I have lots of lovely props, and backdrops to help set the scene ( these are carefully washed and stored after each session )

Backup lighting is handy on days like today when it's a bit murky and overcast, but mainly I control and filter the natural light streaming in from studio left. You can be ensured that even on the darkest day the light will be perfect.

Depending on the 'look' you're after, I take time and effort to make separate vignettes - small areas of difference to aid in different looks. In these photos, you can see some bunting has been left up from a recent baby session, and the fleur-pom-poms are always popular, either as a prop, or a hanging crinkly distraction to get baby to look up. A corner with fake baroque wallpaper might be set up as a backdrop to a sleeping baby.

Of course, plain black & white backdrops are ever-popular too, the session is yours to control and match with your personality.

This room is adjacent to my reception room, where you may view products, discuss your session, or simply relax. If I forget to offer you a tea or coffee though, please ask - I am *terrible* at this, and usually remember after you've left!!

I'd love to have you come and view my new canvas in person - the quality is superb. I only use the very best in suppliers, and I am very very fussy. I also supply prints, art blocks, albums and other items I will be showcasing in a separate blogpost soon.

But today, to celebrate the reveal of my new studio space, i'd like to offer expectant mummies, or mummies with bubbies half-price studio sessions for the months of September and October. And yes, this offer is open to those of you wanting to purchase gift vouchers for others.

Gift Vouchers are a lovely and popular present for the mother-to-be.

So that's $50.00 studio sessions for the months of September & October only!
Offer limited to 10x spots only, so be sure to book quick.

Contact details above, under the blog header - just click on "Contact" for email and phone details - I hope to hear from you soon! x - Lea

Isn't She Lovely? :: Melbourne Baby Photographer ::

I received a lovely email in my inbox the other day.

babygirlpink

I felt a little bad.
I met this wee gorgeous princess as part of my photographer's weekend LAST OCTOBER where she acted as a very gorgeous little model for us.

When the mother received her proofs recently ( see, i'm not the only slowboat then! :), she told me she was disappointed that mine was not among them as she'd seen this particular image I had taken:

Untitled-5

and wrote:
"It is such a beautiful photo and you have captured a look I haven’t seen before .. no one seemed to capture J. like you did"

What a lovely thing to say!
I must admit, I hadn't even looked at my pics from that weekend but for a few - things got very busy and commissioned work threw me in a tizz.

However, the upside of this is that revisiting these photos and finally editing them has been *lovely* and i'm sure you'd agree this little girl is gorgeous.

I'm so glad you contacted me Carolyn - your email made my day and gave me a nice kick up the bum to boot!
Expect a lovely parcel in your mailbox soon xx

Bump to Baby: Melbourne Baby Photographer

Beautiful Baby S.

I originally photographed Sweet baby S in her mummy's tummy, and I hope to be seeing/photographing much more of her in future .. those eyes!

This was a very gentle session. When a baby isn't sleeping very well and you know Mummy is tired, you don't want to muck around primping and posing .. you just get in there and quietly and inobtrusively, and try to capture a moment, a memory in time.

I think she's beautiful, and you'd never know what a tummyache she had, poor sweetie.

Hope she's settling better now Bec

Baby Abroad | Melbourne Baby Photographer

Once I went to a conference in San Francisco and won a keyring for travelling the furthest to be there.

I think I owe Baby L. a keyring.
She travelled from Abu Dhabi.

I won't flatter myself though, as it really wasn't me she was in Australia to see .. she was meeting her Grandparents for the first time - aww.

Isn't she a cutie?

melodyblog

And because this was a mini-session for a friend rather than a proper shoot, I let the apprentice take a few shots also:

103-104

Apparently, his shots were quite good ( according to Baby L's Mummy, whose feet you can see in the background ).. but I never got to see them due to the jealous deleting of an older brother.

Hmmm.

Thanks for visiting Melody, it was so lovely to see you again - I hope you love your gallery ! x

Queue-Jumper.. | Melbourne Baby Photographer

Baby M - a victim of 'Subsequent baby Syndrome'.

My poor secondborn knows it well - I think there's an entry in his babybook recording the fact he was born ..and not much else.

So i've let his mum queue-jump ahead a couple of sessions as she needed an image quickly to send out thankyou cards.

I know the feeling.

Delays are All Good | Melbourne Lifestyle Photographer

AQPS98KJJ6HG

Really - I don't know how other photograhers do it - photoshoots, editing, publishing to websites, galleries, updating blogs, tweeting, plus keeping house and getting family time with their own ?

But still, it's all good, and being early days, setting up is the hardest part. Each obstacle you overcome makes the road just a wee bit smoother next time.

So yes, i've been continuing to get work, but I just haven't been here posting the results - not that this blog has been launched anyway ( hello me, I am effectively talking to myself ! ), so I am hardly letting anybody down ! :D

This is my gorgeous 18mo old asleep last night. I would die for those eyelashes !

Anyway - so on the home front .. i've purchased a Website and have been slowly chipping away at that .. hired a clever talented graphic designer girlfriend to work on a new logo for me .. have booked in a photographer's retreat for more hands-on learning, in Canberra, later in the year.

I've been photographing and marketing and promoting away. Participated and donated my services to a community auction recently, and am juggling away madly, but happily.

Oh yes, delays on this site are all good :D
